The picture above is the wall where the documentation of the Circulation Exploration came alive. The large pin wheel is designed to hint at the connection between the pin wheels and flowers. The three pictures of the pinwheels give us a better idea…
The blue pin-wheels were placed on the line near the creek, right behind Cohen (our studio). They are blue to reflect the water cycle. The water in the creek may not be blue but all streams eventually lead to the big blue ocean.
The green pin-wheels were placed amongst the grass, on a hill, on the line. They are there to remind us that vegetation, like the trees, clean the air that we breathe in and out, all day, everyday.
The brown pin-wheels were placed in a muddy section of woods, on the line. The brown represents natural growth and therefore natural death. They are there to represent the life cycle that is constantly circling our lives.
The pin-wheels were supposed to represent flowers and at the same time hint at Air Circulation and Circulation in general. The colors make them part of their environment and also communicate with the type of circulation going on in that one specific spot on the line.
Each one of these pin-wheels was hand-made and later on destroyed by the terrible Alfred University weather.
